Back in April, My Own Sense of Fashion celebrated our 6th Bloggaversary. Last year, I shared the story of how My Own Sense of Fashion was started. This year I want to focus on six of the biggest lessons I have learned on my blogging journey and more. Keep reading to find out what they are.
Power. Everyone wants it in one way or another. I know I would love to feel powerful now and then, especially when I’m put in situations or around people that I don’t know. There is a magazine that pretty much covers any topic you can think of. While many are moving folding or converting to digital fashion magazines are still popular. Monday night was Elle’s 23rd Annual Women in Hollywood Awards. The event took place in Beverly Hills at the Four Seasons Hotel. The event honored Elle’s eight November cover stars: Jennifer Lawrence, Laura Dern, Jessica Chastain, Margot Robbie, Tessa Thompson, Riley Keough, Cicely Tyson & Kathleen Kennedy. It also celebrated the achievements of successful women in the industry. Especially in the current climate, it is important to have an event like this. For those who are new to My Own Sense of Fashion, we are big on covering global fashion. Earlier this month Lakmè Fashion Week wrapped up for the Summer/Resort 2017 season. Showcasing the finest in Indian fashion the fashion event is presented twice a year (Summer/Resort) & (Winter/Festive). It was one of favorite fashion weeks of the year. Back in October, we reported that Torrid narrowed down the finalists to four. Earlier today the winner of 2017 Face of Torrid was announced. Over 10,000 ladies auditioned, but there could be only one winner. 24-year-old Uruguay-born New Jersey resident Maria Gimena was declared this year’s winner. According to People, Gimena entered the competition after encouragement from a co-worker. Her prize includes a Torrid modeling contract, wardrobe, and $1,000 gift card. Congratulations to Maria and to all the lovely ladies who entered.
