Giveaways are widely popular. Honestly, who doesn’t like to win prizes? However, giveaways can also be beneficial for business. Having entered and conducted giveaways I have learned a few things from the whole experience. Here are a few tips & lessons before the next giveaway.
Keep it Simple
A good giveaway doesn’t have to be complicated. You can always think of a fun trivia question on social media. I have found trivia questions to be popular in my own experience. If you need a good idea for trivia questions it could be a pop culture related or even related to your brand.
Think About Your Prize Selection
When it comes to prize selection, I take a few things into consideration. I think about prizes I would personally like to win. Also, I look to my audience for feedback as well.
Reach Out to Brands You’ve Worked With
Giveaways can be expensive especially if you have a set budget. Reach out to a brand you have previously worked with and send them a giveaway proposal. It could also be mutually beneficial.
Have Clear Set Rules and Requirements

To avoid any confusion, make sure the rules and requirements are clear. It helps you prevent any potential issues that may occur.
Pick a Giveaway Theme
Base your giveaway around milestones, holidays and etc. The prize can tie-in into the theme as well.
Make Sure to Keep the Winner Updated
Be sure to keep the winner updated with their prize. I make it a point to let the winner know when the prize is shipped and provide the tracking number so they know when their prize will arrive.
Think About Online Prize
Some people aren’t comfortable sharing their mailing address online. If this is the case then an online prize is an option. You can send an online gift card or certificate.
Add A Personal Touch
I am a big fan of sending thank you cards so I include them in giveaways as well. I leave a nice little note saying congratulations and thanking them for entering.
Giveaways Don’t Always Work Out
Even after all the planning, some giveaways don’t work out for a number of reasons. I will admit it can be disappointing. This is one of the reasons I have limited the number of giveaways I do each year.
Hopefully, this will help you out before the next giveaway. Speaking of giveaways stay tuned to My Own Sense of Fashion for details on our next giveaway to close out the year.
